Flying mechanics
Preliminary design work has now begun on the various computer controlled stage mechanics that will enable the Miniature Opera to present a diverse and varied repertoire of complex and highly realistic shows.
After much deliberation we have decided to base the stage and fly tower design according to the layout and design of the theatre prior to the recent modernisation in 1997. This is because we believe this will convey a more engaging overall impression of the backstage area - a nostalgic atmosphere which might otherwise now be lost forever.
In our model, only twenty of the scenery bars will be fully functional - and although it will look as if they are operated by hand from the fly gallery, they will in fact be entirely automated and computer programmable.
